PHONOGRAPH (Colby, Wis.) 08/21/1890 Holeton, Gertrude
(20 Augl 1890) Married, at the
residence of the bride’s parents in the town of Holeton,
Marathon Co., Wis., on Wednesday, Aug. 20th, 1890, Lorell M. Cole,
of this village (Colby, Clark Co., Wis.), and Gertrude, eldest
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Holeton of Holeton, Rev. C. D. Scott
officiating. The above
contracting parties are among the most estimable of the young
people of this vicinity. Mr. Cole has lived in Colby from youth to
manhood and has always been found true, honest and industrious.
Last year he taught the grammar department of our village school
with great credit to himself and profit to the pupils. Miss Holeton is
the eldest daughter of G. W. Holeton, has lived here and on the
farm in Holeton, since her infancy and has endeared herself to her
many acquaintances by her pleasant sociable and unaffected manners.
Both of them have hosts of friends who will extend their heartiest
congratulations and tender their very best wishes for the future
welfare and happiness of the young couple. The ceremony was
performed in the presence of a few invited guests, after which all
sat down to a sumptuous collation. This morning the
young couple took the train for Minneapolis and St. Paul where they
will visit for several days, when they will return and make their
home, for a year at least, at Dorchester, Clark Co., near which
place Mr. Cole has secured a school.
